ROYAL CARIBBEAN DOES IT AGAIN!

Royal Caribbean is in the process of building the biggest ship in the industry.  The Oasis of the Seas will be debuting in December of 2009 sailing the Eastern Caribbean.  Starting May 1, 2010, she will alternate its Eastern Caribbean with the Western Caribbean.  Here are some amazing facts about the ship:

    220,000 gross registered tons.
5,400 guests at double occupancy featuring 2,700 staterooms.
7 neighborhoods on 16 decks provide vacationers with the opportunity to seek out relevant experience in themed areas based on their personal styles, preference or moods.

NEIGHBORHOODS
(Only 4 have been announced.  Check back a little later for the other 3)

Central Park - located in the center of the ship, Central Park opens to the sky and features lush, tropical gardens spanning more than the length of a football field on deck 8 of the ship.  An exquisite public gathering place featuring serene pathways, seasonal flower gardens, and canopy trees.  Central Park's piazza will be the ship's "town square" which evolves from a tranquil and peaceful atmosphere during the day to a gathering space for alfresco dining and entertainment in the evening, where guests will enjoy concerts and street performances.  This neighborhood will have 3 retail shops and 6 restaurants and bars.

Boardwalk featuring Aqua Theater - reminiscent of the piers that dot the coast of England and amusements parks such as Coney Island with eateries, retail outlets and carnival games.  There will be a total of 5 shops, 5 restaurants and bars, an original, handcrafted carousel, 2 rock-climbing walls, and a zip-line suspended at sea 9 decks above Boardwalk.  Set at the aft of the ship, the Aqua Theater is a freshwater pool that is created to offer two unique experiences:
During the day, it allows guests to swim and sun loungers to relax on the tiered platforms surrounding the pool with SCUBA lessons in the afternoon.
At night, it will deliver theatrical performance featuring fountain shows, dramatic acrobatics, synchronized swimming, water ballet, and professional high diving.

Royal Promenade - a new design allowing guests to have a physical connection with the neighborhood above (Central Park) with natural light flowing through Crystal Canopy sculptured glass domes.  A mezzanine level that overlooks the main promenade below.  It also includes the Rising Tide bar, the first moving bar at sea.  This will traverse three decks and allow cruisers to enjoy a cocktail as they slowly ascend into Central Park.  The Royal Promenade will consist of 8 retail shops and 9 restaurants and bars.

Stateroom and Suite Accommodations - 37 different categories of accommodation options with unique views.  Various staterooms - interior or oceanview with or without balconies.  All bedroom areas will feature additional under-bed storage, shelf units, expansive closets with retractable clothing and shoes shelves, flip up bedside tables to provide more space and functionally, and the bathrooms will feature open space, clear glass shower enclosures and additional shelves and ledges.  And of course, there will be plenty of suites to chose from.  The newest is called the loft suite - urban living concept with floor to ceiling windows for expansive oceanviews and luxury amenities.  The living room and bathroom will be on the first floor and the loft bedroom on the second...all with spectacular views.  There are even loft suites facing inward with Park View and Boardwalk view balcony staterooms.

Few destinations boast as much sun-drenched tropical beauty or cultural diversity as the islands of the Caribbean. This region has a distinctive fusion of influences from Europe, Africa and Latin America, which make up a wonderful quilt-work of cultures amongst a breathtaking backdrop of lush tropical jungles, fresh water caves, white-sand beaches, charming cities and ancient ruins.  Each island has its own incredible story.
